By now I’m safe and sound at the airport, sitting in the departure area waiting for my gate number to show up. But getting here… everything went fine till terminal 5. Miha and Bettina joined me for a last English breakfast in Headington and then kindly brought me to the bus where we had to say goodbye. The bus almost was on time and I headed off for the airport. The bus stops first at terminal 5 and then usually continues on to the Central Bus Station (terminal 1,2,3). Only the bus wouldn’t start anymore, the engine seemed to be almost dead! Oooooh no!! The one time I take a bus that goes a little bit later so I don’t have to wait at the airport too long – of course that time the bus breaks down. Fortunately after 5 minutes and several trials the engine came to life again and you could hear a sigh of relief going through the bus.
But we didn’t make it far. Halfway inbetween the terminals (it’s usually a 10min ride) the engine dropped dead – completely. After 10 minutes of panic building up in me (and meanwhile enjoying the planes landing really close by) a National Express Bus stopped and picked us up.
Next challenge: dropping off the luggage. But lucky me again, the lady taking my luggage just frowned slightly, attached a „heavy baggage“ tag to my suitcase and made no further comment on my suitcase being heavier than it should.
Wish me luck for my next means of transport not to break down as well… halfway inbetween… 😉
